We are participating in the Early Achievers Program and teachers can apply for scholarships in ECE.


We have a dedicated group of professional teachers that share a common goal of offering programs that meet children and family’s needs. Each program focuses on a different age group and offers opportunities to learn new skills and explore different topics of study.


We are a private school. We have a dedicated teaching team and value the work our teachers do. We are not corporate. We feel consistency for students and staff is important. Director Katrina Brooke has worked at The Shyne School for 22 years. She started in August of 2002 when her oldest son was two years old. Her youngest son also attended starting in 2006 at the age of two. Katrina started working in the childcare field at the age of 16 as an Aide and has held the positions of Assistant, Lead (8 yrs.), Program Supervisor (8 yrs.) and Director (24 yrs.). She understands how important each position is to providing quality care for students and the respect needed for teachers. She attended U of W and North Seattle Collage. The Shyne School has seen core teachers work for 2 to 27 years.


We are always on the lookout for teachers, on call for substitutes. Job Description:


The Shyne School uses developmentally appropriate practice in a play-based program for the whole child. We work to build a positive, consistent, supportive teaching staff. We build a long-term teaching staff that is given a voice and are valued for their work. We are a sole entity who can make school policies that address the community’s needs.


We are searching for an Aide Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, 12.5 hrs. a week, closing the center with two other teachers.


We are looking for a teacher to join us that will work in our Waddler, Dewdrop Classroom with 1 to 2+ year old’s. Arrive as students are waking from their nap, serve snack, change diapers, and play outside or do a project inside if it is raining.  We combine with the Toddler (2-3 year old) classroom at 4:15, and then after a snack at 5;00 PM the remaining students combine and closing jobs are completed.  We make sure the school is ready for the next day.  dishes, rags/blankets laundry, garbage/recycle cans to the curb.  We are looking for good customer service and communication skills to greet parents at the end of the day and ensure the school is closed and ready for the next day.  Classrooms have two teachers at all times.

Lead Assistant Pre-K Teacher

The Shyne School is a high-quality school looking for an Assistant to the Lead Pre-K Teacher, with some classroom experience, and would love it if you had training in early childhood education, to work with our children and families. (Students are 4 to 5 years old). We are a medium school, with four classrooms and four outdoor play areas. Our staff work as a team and become a work family with so many long time staff – 7 to 15 years at The Shyne School. Low staff and student turn over. Clear open communication where we work to build each other up and support everyone. Teachers have set shifts, not sent home early and teachers consistently stay in their class with their students. We use Creative Curriculum for a play based whole child approach.

Our goal is to create the highest quality program on the Eastside that goes beyond licensing requirements. We feel consistency is the key to a quality program, so long term consistent staff, and not moving teachers or children around are staples of our program. We are currently Early Achievers participants and use Creative Curriculum and Procare WA Development and Learning as an Assessment Tool. Lead Assistant Teachers work with the Lead teachers to help track children’s progress and assist in the management of the classroom and Parent Communication. This teacher works Monday to Friday 9:00 to 5:00. The class is a group of 20 with a 10:1 ratio (two teachers). Students are four by August 31st and turn five while attending and move to Kindergarten at local elementry schools in the fall. WA state mandates that staff be fully vaccinated for MMR and Covid.

Assistant Teacher

We selected you for this position based on your qualifications and personality displayed at the time you were interviewed. We look for teachers who are warm and friendly, sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and able to relate well to children. Assist in implementation of the curriculum, working with parents, and assessing the needs of individual children under the guidance of the lead teacher. In this position you will be responsible for assisting in general classroom management, supervision of problem solving with individual children, implementing activities, and following The Shyne Schools policies and procedures.


Qualifications


Assistant teachers working full time must be 18 years of age and earn a high school diploma. You must have experience of working with groups of children. You must be able to model self after the lead teacher. Willing to further your education in Early Childhood Education and meet state requirements for STARS. Aides working less than four hours a day need to be 16 years of age or older and have experience working with groups of children. Teachers must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, 40 pounds regularly during an eight-hour period.


Accountability:


The Assistant Teacher reports to the Lead Teacher or Director in their absence.

Teachers are expected to be reliable in their attendance and arrive on time, ready for work. Know and follow the center’s philosophy. Open to innovative ideas, be flexible with assignments and schedule, look for ways to improve the program, always remain calm and come to work with a positive attitude. Always presenting the highest level of care, keeping in mind that parents see us with their children for a few minutes of the day and assume what they see in those few minutes is what happens all day.


Responsibilities


Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:


  • Assist in planning and implementing the daily program and schedule. Assume an equal share of the housekeeping responsibilities of the staff, agreed upon with co-teachers.
  • Assist in transitions and participates in classroom activities.
  • Assisting in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe, fun, and inviting learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies that are appropriate for each child’s developmental level.

Lead Teachers

The Shyne School looks for experienced teachers with a degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education to work with children and families. Our goal is to create the highest quality program on the Eastside that goes beyond licensing requirements. We are currently Early Achievers participants. Teachers follow ITERS/ETERS and CLASS Guidelines. We feel that teachers do amazing work, and we honor them for it. Lead Teachers work Monday to Friday for 6.75 hours with a paid 30-minute lunch and a paid 30-minute planning time each day, with a 15-minute paid prep time. Below you will find a list of benefits and the job duties. We like our new teachers to start part time to transition into the class and then take over the class full time. We value the demanding work teachers do and work hard to create a great working environment. Lead Teachers plan and post their curriculum for parents weekly, send out quarterly newsletters, track children’s progress, create student portfolio’s, fill out developmental checklists, offer parent conferences and manage the classroom. We look for warm, nurturing teachers that are responsive to children and adults. A teacher in a developmental constructionist class has the role of providing a rich environment for the spontaneous exploration of the child. A classroom filled with interesting things to explore encourages students to become active constructors of their own knowledge (their own schemas) through experiences that encourage assimilation and accommodation.

Job Description:


We are looking for a cook to order, prepare four snacks and lunch and serve lunch.  Menu Planning and maintaining documentation of food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements as assigned by the Department of Health Service for the Department of Children, Youth and Family Services.  This position is also responsible for providing a safe and sanitary work environment along with assisting other staff to meet the above expectations.  Home cooks are welcome to apply.


Other Job Functions:


Assists personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.  This includes providing break relief as needed.  Reports to the director and assists by answering phones as needed.


Skills, Knowledge and /or abilities required:


Skills to cook and bake large quantities of food items; perform basic arithmetic calculations; operate and maintain basic kitchen equipment; adjust recipes to various quantity demands; use standard office equipment.  Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes, sanitation principles, and nutritional requirements.  Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.  Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, bending, and stretching.
